Medical Assistant - MA

RL Klein & Associates is currently hiring Medical Assistants for our federal client – California State Prisons. This is a great opportunity to work in a correctional healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

- At least 1 year of continuous Medical Assistant experience within the last 3 years in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility (internships do not count).

- Must have a valid Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following boards: AMCA, AAMA, AMT, CCBMA, or NCCT.

- Must have a current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA or American Red Cross (with AED).

Job Responsibilities:

- The Medical Assistant will work under the supervision of a physician in a correctional facility and perform duties such as:

- Taking vital signs and basic patient assessments

- Administering injections and medications (oral, topical, or sublingual)

- Collecting blood samples and lab specimens

- Changing simple dressings and removing sutures or casts

- Assisting doctors during medical examinations and treatments

- Recording patient information and medical history

- Maintaining infection control and patient confidentiality

- Scheduling patients and managing clinic supplies
