Petty Marsh is exclusively partnering with a large global manufacturer with 4,000+ team members.

This Process Safety / EHS&S Leader will oversee a high-hazard manufacturing site, leading a team of 3–4 direct reports supporting a workforce of 200+ employees in the Columbus region.

This leader plays a critical role in environmental and safety compliance, including air quality, water management, and waste programs, in collaboration with EHS&S team and cross-functional stakeholders.

Closely partnering with the Plant Director, this is an opportunity to serve as a global model at a flagship plant through process safety innovation — driving ownership of procedures, training programs, and operational safety standards while fostering a strong safety-first culture across the organization.

Location: South of Columbus, Ohio area (Must be within commuting distance or relocate)

Salary: $125,000 – $135,000 (based on experience) + annual target bonus plan

Site Requirements: Onsite (not remote or hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

• Lead as a visible, engaged “working manager” with an open-door leadership philosophy

• Develop and implement programs and processes that strengthen safety culture across all levels of operational risk

• Partner with the safety training coordinator to support programs such as fall protection, confined space, and other regulatory training initiatives

• Lead incident investigations including root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and internal/external reporting

• Oversee environmental programs in partnership with the site environmental technician

• Ensure timely reporting, injury response, and follow-through on corrective actions

• Manage site permitting, waste management, emergency response planning, inspections, and regulatory compliance requirements

• Partner with HR and Operations on return-to-work processes and pre-employment evaluations

• Analyze safety and operational data to identify trends and communicate insights to leadership teams

• Maintain current knowledge of evolving safety regulations and compliance requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, safety, manufacturing, or a related field

• 3+ years of experience directly leading and developing team members

• 8+ years of experience in manufacturing environments

• 5+ years of experience in Process Safety Management (PSM), EHS, - OR - manufacturing operations

• Advanced environmental compliance knowledge including air, water, and hazardous waste programs

• Advanced knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) or Risk Management Plan (RMP) frameworks

• Data-driven decision-making and incident analysis capability

• Ability to travel 10–15% domestically (this % includes travel to annual global safety meeting)

• Ability to safely work onsite full-time with exposure to solvents, dust, waste, and loud noise
