Duties

The United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia (USAO-GAN) is seeking a motivated, thoughtful leader to build and manage its security platform as the District's Security Specialist. Your expertise and talents will be called upon to safeguard government personnel, property, information, and operations under wide variety of conditions. This position resides in the Administrative Division and reports to the Administrative Officer. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing security services to employees and managers within the United States Attorney's Office (USAO).
Typical work assignments will include:
Respond to and conduct threat analyses.
Verify background investigation/clearance levels of personnel.
Prepare emergency plans for the protection of personnel, property and facilities.
Conduct periodic security awareness training and provide instructional material to personnel who have access to classified material.
Manages the office's security and emergency services programs to include but not limited to physical security; emergency management; contract services.
Develops and implements security policies and procedures for the protection of personnel, physical, property, information, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and classified communications. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications
To be qualified for the GS-12 Security Specialist, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service.
Specialized experience is defined as the following: Developing or conducting training of information, personnel security; Conducting security inspections to ensure implementation and compliance with requirements of the information security program; assisting in completing various stages of investigations pertaining to threat assessments and incident reports in compliance with directives.
