Behavior Coach Job Description
Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Document and maintain data sheets on individual student's behavior goals/objectives as well as maintaining accurate data on class wide tiered systems.
Progress monitor skills to inform instruction and intervention to maximize growth.
Coordinate with outside agencies/organizations and serve as a resource for students and families.
Continue to acquire professional knowledge in the most current behavior strategies
Communicate effectively and frequently with parents and encourage parent involvement
Ensure lunchroom and recess are fully staffed, also monitoring student behavior during those times - working lunch and recess and coaching lunch monitors
Process and lead tier 1 and 2 building behavior and bus referrals
Fill in as needed (classroom teacher when no sub, secretary, etc)
Student/Teacher Behavior Support and Coaching
Active and visible throughout the building and in classrooms
Active and visible during arrival and dismissal
Build Staff, Student and Family relationships
Work collaboratively as a strong team with the principal and counselor
Assist teachers with behavior management and making behavior plans
Attend SAT meeting
Implement ISA lesson plans
Participate in PBIS, Threat Assessment meetings
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Education, School Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Behavior Analysis, or a related field
Valid state licensure/certification (if applicable to role)
Experience working in a K-12 school setting
Demonstrated knowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Experience supporting students with behavioral, emotional, or social needs
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred:
Master's degree in Education, Counseling, School Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related field
Certification such as:
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
Licensed School Counselor
Licensed Social Worker
Experience developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Experience conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
Crisis prevention/de-escalation training (e.g., CPI or similar)
Experience coaching teachers and staff on classroom management strategies
Knowledge of trauma-informed practices
Familiarity with MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support)
