POSITION TITLE: Preventative Maintenance/HVAC Tech
FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor
Purpose Statement
Performs preventative maintenance tasks on a variety of commercial heating, air conditioning, air-handling units, boilers and cooling towers. Ensure completion of projects in accordance to trade standards and maintain facilities in a safe, usable and attractive condition.
Essential Functions
Perform preventative maintenance work as recommended by manufacturers (clean coils, clean and adjust water coolers, check and replace filters, oil motors, replace belts, etc.) on a variety of HVAC equipment throughout the District.
Advise maintenance supervisor of any additional work required by HVAC technicians.
Work with HVAC technicians to help resolve HVAC related issues.
Estimate materials and/or equipment needed to complete projects as assigned.
Dailly coordination with supervisor and/or other trades as necessary to complete projects and work orders efficiently.
Self-motivated, and able to work independently.
Move furniture and equipment within schools and/or school district.
Maintain vehicle, tools and equipment in good working order.
Participate in team meetings, and seminars as necessary to maintain certifications.
Work from ladders and/or lifts to access elevated areas to be painted.
Assist other maintenance staff as needed.
Assist in snow and ice removal activities as assigned.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the District.
Experience
3-5 years of job related experience preferred
Ability to communicate effectively with all staff
Basic technological skills
Education/Certification
High School diploma or equivalent
Missouri refrigerant certification
Class E driver's license
Miscellaneous Requirements
Background clearance required, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
work with precision and control where damage could be considerable, work independently to complete projects,
Lifting of more than 50 pounds,
Carrying, pushing and/or pulling, climbing and balancing,
Frequent working from ladders or lifts,
Exposure to areas where high voltage electricity is present.
