Security Aide (Multiple ) - Month

Lakeland Central School District is seeking Security Aides in our school buildings.

Multiple positions.

This is a competitive civil service title.

Candidates holding this title are encouraged to apply or have held competitive title or higher title, (e.g.

Police Officer). Under the general supervision of the building administrator, an incumbent of this position is primarily responsible for providing general security for all building occupants and school district property.

Other responsibilities include maintaining a post at the main entrance of schools, greeting visitors, students and staff and determining whether or not to grant entry to building based upon information provided, providing a security presence for each building and preventing unauthorized individuals from entering building.

Assists building and district administrators in handling emergency situations and investigations.

Knowledge of security techniques; knowledge of principles, practices and techniques employed in establishing and maintaining building security; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, school personnel and the general public.Special Requirements: Satisfactory completion of an approved security guard training course as approved by the NYS Department of Criminal Justice in accordance with the Security Guard Act of 1992.

Incumbents must maintain valid registration as a security guard throughout employment.

Must hold competitive title or higher title, (e.g.

Police Officer), or be eligible for appointment from open competitive list.

This is a 10 month position M-F Hours: 7:00am - 2:30pm & 8:30am - 4:00pm.
