The Chalmers P Wylie Veterans Outpatient Clinic is recruiting for a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse in Specialty Service.

This position will provide nursing support for Pulmonary.

Possesses the knowledge and skills to carry out more specialized patient care activities.

This knowledge base includes the use of Veteran care data to initiate active contributions to the Veteran's overall health plan.

Knowledgeable of program regulations and performs objectives of the nursing program.

* Promotes and demonstrates nursing concepts in the Medical Center.

Works in collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN), and or Health Care Provider (HCP). Demonstrates the ability to work independently without the need for readily available supervision and communicates effectively with the Veteran, families, caregivers, professionals, and other supportive staff.

* Completes FENO (Fractional Exhaled Nitric Oxide) testing, PFT (Pulmonary Function Tests), and ESS (Epworth Sleepiness Scale) questionnaires when ordered by the provider.

* Demonstrates the ability to exercise independent technical judgments.

Possess and applies a comprehensive working knowledge of the principles, art, and science of practical nursing.

Demonstrates broader knowledge skill with respect to these responsibilities than employees at lower grades.

Responsible for goals and interventions that promote Veterans in attaining maximum functional potential.

* Meets the needs of all customers while supporting the Medical Center and Service missions.

Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers, and all Medical Center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.

Provides the customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.

Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.

* Provides care and/or services appropriate to the age of the patients being served, and which is appropriate to the cognitive; emotional, and chronological maturation of the patient.

Assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age specific needs and to provide care needed as described in the services' policies and procedures.

Takes into consideration age-related differences of the various Veteran populations with this institution.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
