Product/Software Engineer

Job Description

Our client, an AI-native B2B software startup, is seeking a Senior or Staff Product/Software Engineer to join as a Founding Engineer on their growing U.S. team.

This is a high-impact role for an engineer who thrives in early-stage environments, takes deep ownership, and can design, build, and scale backend systems from the ground up. You will work closely with the founders on critical product and engineering decisions while helping shape the technical foundation of the company.

You'll play a key role in defining backend architecture, driving engineering excellence, mentoring teammates, and collaborating directly with customers to ensure solutions solve meaningful real-world problems.Key Responsibilities

System Architecture

Design and implement scalable backend architecture aligned with long-term product vision

Improve system performance, reliability, and scalability across services

Establish best practices for code quality, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring

Partner with product and leadership to align technical strategy with business goals

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

Apply first-principles thinking to complex engineering challenges

Evaluate trade-offs between speed and scalability

Propose pragmatic, high-leverage technical solutions

Team & Mentorship

Mentor mid-level and junior engineers

Conduct code reviews and uphold high engineering standards

Own projects end-to-end from design through deployment

AI Systems

Collaborate closely with the CTO on next-generation AI agent initiativesWhat They're Looking For

6–10 years of experience as a backend-heavy engineer at high-caliber startups

Fast promotional track record

Experience joining companies between Seed and Series C and/or time at strong scale-ups

Proven track record in building production systems end-to-end

Strong product and business thinking

Former founder or founding engineer experience is a plus

CS or adjacent STEM degree with strong coding foundation (top-tier programs preferred)

Strong full-stack fundamentals (backend-leaning acceptable)

Experience with Python, Postgres, TypeScript, React, and GCP preferred

High-agency self-starter who thrives in fast-paced environments

Demonstrated spikes of excellence (top schools, elite engineering teams, competitive achievements, etc.)
