Propulsion System Section Leading Specialist (m/f/d)

As part of the Technical Investigation department scope, leads to troubleshooting of propulsion faults, from root cause analysis to resolution, ensuring minimal downtime during repairs. Manages maintenance programs, spare parts inventory, and fleet-wide training on main propulsion systems. Supervises commissioning (FAT, HAT, SAT) and decommissioning processes, in line with set schedules and in coordination with the client
Area of Responsibility / Tasks
Support planning and execution of the Navy Fleet MRO maintenance program
Lead the Propulsion System section within the Technical Investigation department.
Support communication with OEMs and shipyards related to the project execution
Liaise with planning, data, and workshops, analyze trends of reported defects and breakdowns, and identify potential corrective actions.
Conduct root cause analysis, failure mode, and effects analysis as necessary. Act as the first point of contact for Priority 1 operational defects. Prepare reports and proposals for improvements. Issue Company Technical Memos on completion.
To provide regular on-the-job training and theoretical consultation/classes for RBN and MMS employees.
Required Expertise
Requires a degree in marine or mechanical engineering, 10+ years in propulsion systems (diesel, electric, hybrid), and hands-on experience in shipyard refits. Strong skills in technical documentation, software handling, and leading teams of 10-20 personnel.
Familiarity with MTU 1163/4000 Engine series, MAN diesel generators, and CPP systems is an advantage.
Ship sailing experience and/or shipyard experience is an advantage.
Skills:
Fluent in Technical English (written and spoken)
Good knowledge of maintenance planning tools
Good knowledge of engineering principles and techniques
Cost awareness
Good knowledge of MS Office and common software applications (ERP System)
Additional Deliverables specific to the current position revision:
Priority 1 operational defect point of contact. Share responsibility with other Technical Investigation colleagues, according to the internal schedule, and respond to Priority 1 calls from the Navy Fleet.
Conduct monthly review meetings with the DATA & ERP department, analyze operational defect statistics, and report the results
Regularly participate in project status meetings and report on Propulsion System maintenance status. Including but not limited to work schedule updates, manpower resources utilization, material readiness status, risks, and mitigation plans
Conduct weekly manpower coordination meetings with counterparts from the Mechanical Workshop Department and report the risks and opportunities.
Coordinate Propulsion System Section members (section leads). Review and update section leads role descriptions regularly.
