The Mechanical Engineering Intern will assist the Lumirror Engineering Department in the completion of project work.
Project work will entail working both with other mechanical engineers and independently on small-scale projects.
Duties: * Work in a support role to other engineers on aspects of their projects * Work on various small projects as suitable for skill level.
Work from concept to design and installation (depending on project, lead time, etc.) * Review work assignments to develop engineered solutions * Generate fabrication drawings and project budgets * Specific projects intern will work on will be discussed during the interview process Requirements: * Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft office products * Ability to model existing equipment configurations in 3D solid modeling CAD along with producing 2D detailed fabrication drawings * Ability to use (or learn) AutoCAD * Must have a strong work ethic and be highly self-motivated * Strengths in machine design, power transmission, and design of fabricated components will be a plus * "Hands on" and practical mechanical experience/background a plus * Must be able to communicate clearly, verbally and written, with vendors and contractors * Ability to report in a clear and concise fashion * Ideal candidate will be a mechanical engineering student entering his or her junior or senior year Length of Employment: * The internship is a full-time forty hour per week position * The assignment will begin on May 26 and end on August 21.
