JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Apprentice

Department: Construction/Operations

Reports To: Site Supervisor

Location: PFM Jobsites Guam USA

Employment Type: Apprenticeship (Full-Time)

Summary/Objective:

The Apprentice (Skilled Trades) position is a full-time, paid opportunity designed for individuals seeking hands-on training and long-term career development in the construction and building trades industry. Apprentices work under the guidance of experienced journeymen and supervisors, learning trade-specific skills, safety protocols, and industry standards. This role provides practical, on-the-job experience across residential, commercial, and industrial projects, offering a strong foundation for a successful career in the skilled trades.

This apprenticeship may include training in one of the following trades based on business needs and applicant interest:

Carpenter

Painter

Mason

HVAC Technician

Electrician

Welder

Plumber

Construction Equipment Mechanic

Other skilled construction trades as assigned

Essential Functions:

Assist skilled trades personnel with installation, maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across various job sites

Learn and follow trade-specific techniques, tools, materials, and equipment

Perform general labor duties including material handling, site preparation, and cleanup

Read and follow basic blueprints, drawings, work orders, and supervisor instructions

Measure, cut, assemble, install, or finish materials under supervision

Operate hand tools and power tools safely and correctly

Assist with routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting activities

Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and orderly condition

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA standards, and jobsite regulations

Work collaboratively with supervisors, coworkers, and other trades

Attend required classroom training and apprenticeship-related instruction

Maintain accurate records of work performed when required

Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, climbing ladders, working outdoors, and working in confined spaces

Perform other duties as assigned to support project and business needs

Qualification, Competencies and Requirements

WORK ELIGIBILITY: Must be a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.

AGE: Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

RESIDENCY: Must have resided in Guam for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years prior to entry into the program. A Mayor’s Verification of Residency is required upon hire.

COMMITMENT: Must be able to attend a minimum of two (2) classes per week, as specified by the apprenticeship program standards, while maintaining a full-time (40-hour) work schedule with PFM.

Work Environment

Work outside in various conditions including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold

Must be able to lift 30 pounds at times

Must be willing to work between multiple worksites

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, hourly position. Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. However, due to operational needs, may be required to work before or after normal hours of operations, on weekends or holidays.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.
