Hybrid: This role can be performed in a hybrid/remote capacity.

Role: As a Senior Software Systems Engineer in the Software Validation team, you will be pivotal in leading validation strategies for autonomous vehicle software. Your expertise in building complex V&V methodologies will help us rapidly prototype solutions, build consensus, and enhance confidence in our programs. You will be instrumental in guiding engineers to establish best practices, innovate testing methods, and ensure the safety and performance of autonomous systems. Your work will shape the future of evaluation methodologies for AI systems and other Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), architecting solutions tailored to the needs of AI developers, systems engineers, and safety stakeholders.

About the Organization: The Autonomous Vehicle (AV) organization is at the forefront of developing autonomous vehicles using advanced simulation technologies and iterative development processes. The Software Validation team aims to facilitate seamless software launches and critical continuous release decisions through effective simulation validation strategies, prototypes, and protocols. We foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence, continuously pushing the boundaries of autonomous vehicle testing.

What You'll Do:

Define requirements and metrics to validate safe and comfortable autonomous vehicle operations.

Own the analysis and characterization of various autonomous behaviors, impacting software development and launch decisions.

Develop and prototype testing strategies that utilize both simulation and real-world scenarios to support continuous software release cycles.

Leverage your systems engineering and data analysis skills to facilitate data-driven design, validation, risk analysis, and decisions on prioritization.

Manage roadmaps for developing stable requirements and verification/validation solutions for advanced problems across multiple product lifecycles.

Mentor team members and encourage collaboration across teams to define robust behavioral validation strategies for new product launches.

Your Skills & Abilities

Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields.

5+ years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, statistical analysis, or related areas.

Expertise in SQL, Python, and C++ for large dataset analysis.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw impactful conclusions.

Adept at navigating ambiguity, transitioning from quick prototypes to long-term strategic planning.

Excellent communication ability, comfortable engaging in both high-level and detailed discussions.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge

Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicle development, or ADAS.

Familiarity with robotics simulation environments.

Experience analyzing automotive collision data.

Skills in developing dashboards and data visualizations using tools like Looker or Jupyter notebooks.

Industry experience in systems engineering and requirements management, including system analysis, requirements writing, test generation, and validation activities.

Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama, DNG, or DOORS.

Proven track record of successful systems engineering for safety-critical products.

Compensation:

The expected base compensation for this role ranges from $125,000 to $191,700, depending on various factors related to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
