Job Description
** About the Role**
We are looking for a Network Operations Engineer to support network
provisioning, PoP deployments, and ongoing operations across a
large-scale, high-availability network environment for one of our top tech clients in the Bay Area.
This role blends hands-on field work with remote operational support and close
collaboration with engineering, vendors, and logistics teams.
** Roles and Responsibilities**
Support network provisioning, PoP deployments, maintenance, and
upgrade activities
Perform circuit turn-ups, device configuration, testing, deployment,
and decommissioning
Troubleshoot network issues related to peering, transit, transport,
and circuit connectivity; escalate to SMEs as needed
Diagnose interoperability, configuration, and performance issues
across network infrastructure
Verify cross-connects, coordinate circuits, and validate optical power
levels prior to commissioning
Maintain and audit patch panel inventory across in-scope PoPs
Track and manage network asset inventory and firmware compliance
Partner with network engineering, vendors, and logistics teams to
integrate new equipment
Support project timelines for network turn-ups and expansions
Track request and incident queues to ensure timely resolution
Contribute to documentation, root cause analysis, and continuous
improvement initiatives
Provide flexible support coverage, including both on-site and remote operations
** Technical Requirements**
Strong foundation in networking concepts, routing, and switching
5-7 years of relevant experience
Hands-on experience with protocols such as TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, CDP,
LACP, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, and EIGRP
Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 configurations
Solid understanding of fiber-optic infrastructure
Experience working with Cisco, Juniper, and/or Arista networking platforms
Background supporting service provider, WAN, or large enterprise
network environments
Experience with troubleshooting or automation scripts (Python,
Linux/Unix shell, JSP, Ruby, or Perl)
Field experience in PoPs, metro networks, colocation facilities, or
enterprise environments
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Certifications such as CompTIA, CCNA/JNCIP, or CCNP/JNCIP are a plus
