Office of Fiscal & Monitoring Services

We are responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Agency's budget activities. We also conduct financial compliance reviews of ODJFS partners and sub-recipients, identifying operational improvement and risk reduction opportunities. This office includes the Bureaus of County Finance and Technical Assistance, Grants Management, Monitoring and Consulting Services, Audit Management Resolution, Planning & Operations, and Accounting. What You Will Do

In this position, you will be assigned to the Bureau of Accounting. The Bureau of Accounting is responsible for processing all departmental encumbrances and payments, administering automated accounting and payment systems (e.g., OAKS, EDI), performing and monitoring access security functions for JFS annual threshold expenditures and production reports.

Day-to-Day you will:

Ensure proper coding, accurate amounts, and all required supporting documentation is uploaded in compliance with agency standards

Collaborate with budget coordinators to help establish clear reporting standards for supervisors

Identify and organize data from multiple areas to ensure consistent and accurate reporting

Assist with updating procedural documentation for the Bureau of Accounting

Ensure documentation reflects current processes and best practices to improve efficiency and compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

Passion for public service

Undergraduate Junior or Senior / Graduate Student

Majors\: Accounting, Public Accounting, Public Policy, Political Science, Business, or Public Administration, or related

Ready to gain in-depth knowledge about ODJFS services

Schedule: Summer 2026\: 8 – 16 hours/week minimum. Hours must be worked M-F between 8AM – 5PM

Location\: This position will report to the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower at 30 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43215

Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university and in good academic standing. Proof of academic enrollment (current transcript copy) must be provided upon selection

Must have completed one (1) academic year of college

Must be 18 years old at start of employment
