Job Title:Financial Reporting & Compliance Analyst

Reporting To:Manager, Finance

Work Schedule:Hybrid – San José, CR

The Finance & Accounting Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with local tax regulations, and timely execution of accounting processes. This role involves managing reconciliations, statutory filings, audits, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external auditors.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities and Tasks:

Reporting monthly financial results to Local Management and Corporate Level.

Ensuring compliance with Tax Law (Corporate and Local).

Support month-end and year-end close activities: preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing balance sheet reconciliations, analyzing variances, and ensuring timely and accurate submission of financial statements and reports.

Performing weekly and monthly bank account reconciliations and reporting commissions, interests, and pending items.

Executing monthly intercompany reconciliations and reporting.

Preparing monthly income statements and financial reports in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS/NIIF), including NIIF S1 & S2 (Sustainability Disclosure Standards).

Preparing local Financial Statements in CRC and legal accounting books, assisting with USD corporate reporting when required.

Supporting the full budget cycle, including preparation, weekly updates in the budget tool, quarterly consolidation and filing of budget reports, and assisting in the development of forecasts. Ensures accuracy, monitors variances against plan, and provides timely reporting to management.

Assisting in physical inventory counts and preparing monthly inventory reports in CRC.

Preparing and submitting reports to local authorities (Procomer, Tributación Directa, Municipalidad de Alajuela, CCSS, INS, BCCR, and others).

Managing statutory external audits and tax audits (Hacienda, Procomer,others), ensuring timely responses and compliance, and assisting in internal audits when requested.

Preparing monthly VAT returns and ensuring all supporting documentation is complete, accurate, and available for review by tax authorities and auditors.

Preparing and organizing all required documentation for Tax Return filings, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission to tax authorities.

Preparing and submitting monthly Procomer back-office sales reports, ensuring accuracy of service-related transactions and compliance with local reporting requirements.

Monitoring and validating asset capitalization, depreciation runs, and inventory transactions within the ERP system to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Responding to financial information requests and supporting managers with adjustments when necessary.

Drive process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives: identifying inefficiencies, proposing sustainable solutions, and implementing enhancements using best practices.

Performing other duties as assigned, in response to business needs and to support the effective operation of the Finance and Accounting department.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration emphasis in accounting.

CPI Contador Privado Incorporado (Private Accountant Incorporated)

Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications (Desirable but not mandatory):

Income tax Code

Trade Code

Law 7210 Free Trade Zone Regime

Other Qualifications (Preferred):

English spoken

Excel, Word knowledge.

Integrated information system experience.

Strong problem-solving skills and data analysis.

Must be well organized and self-starter.
