We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer / Electrical Designer to support the continued growth of commercial design projects in Columbus, OH. This full-time position offers the opportunity to start in a design-focused role with a clear pathway toward advancement into Project Engineer or Project Manager responsibilities.
The ideal candidate has experience in commercial, office, retail, and healthcare electrical systems, a strong technical foundation in building systems design, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Develop electrical designs for commercial, office, retail, healthcare, and institutional projects
Design and coordinate power distribution systems, grounding, lighting systems, control systems, and equipment selection
Prepare and review electrical schematics, panel schedules, and construction documents
Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated designs
Conduct on-site investigations and field verification of existing conditions
Apply current NEC (National Electrical Code) and relevant industry standards to project designs
Prepare and maintain general and electrical specifications
Maintain professional relationships with multidisciplinary team members and manufacturer representatives
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred
Experience in commercial building electrical design
Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience preferred but not required)
Familiarity with system-specific electrical materials, components, and equipment
Basic understanding of electrical calculations and higher-level mathematics related to building systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with healthcare or large commercial projects
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or interest in pursuing licensure
Knowledge of lighting controls, emergency power systems, and energy-efficient design
