Oracle EPM Technical Application Consultant (Senior)

Location: Quincy, MA - Hybrid

Duration: 06+ Contract (with potential extensions)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle EPM Technical Application Consultant / SME to support, enhance, and optimize Oracle EPM Cloud applications across the enterprise.

This role partners closely with Finance, Accounting, and FP&A teams to design scalable EPM solutions, improve performance, and ensure seamless end-to-end financial processes.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise across EPM Planning/EPBCS/Essbase, FCCS or HFM, and EDMCS/DRM/DRG, with proven ability to design efficient planning processes and tune calculations for high performance.

What You'll Do

EPM Solution Design & Development

Design, build, and enhance Oracle EPM Cloud applications using enterprise best practices.

Partner with finance stakeholders to design planning cycles, forecasting frameworks, driver-based models, workflows, and reporting experiences.

Develop and maintain calculation scripts, business rules, Groovy rules (where applicable), and Essbase components.

Application Support & SME Ownership

Provide day-to-day technical production support, including troubleshooting, break/fix, and enhancements.

Tune and optimize calculation logic for performance, scalability, and efficient runtime behaviour.

Integrations & Automations

Build and maintain metadata structures, dimension builds, mapping logic, and data load processes.

Manage Data Management integrations and automate end-to-end batch workflows.

Integrate GL and upstream finance data sources while ensuring robust validation and reconciliation controls.

Migration & Documentation

Support migrations from on-premise EPM applications to Oracle EPM Cloud, including refactoring rules and artifacts.

Create clear and comprehensive documentation for solution design, support procedures, and training.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on Oracle EPM experience, including significant exposure to Oracle EPM Cloud.

Strong expertise in one or more: EPBCS / Planning / Essbase, FCCS, HFM, EDMCS/DRM/DRG.

Proven ability to design complete planning processes-beyond rule building-including workflows, UX structuring, data flow design, and alignment with business planning cycles.

Deep experience in:

Business rules & calc scripts (with strong focus on runtime optimization)

Data Management / FDMEE

Metadata management & hierarchy governance

Automation scripts (PowerShell, Batch; Python a plus)

Strong experience working directly with Finance, Accounting, and FP&A in large enterprise environments.

Hands-on experience integrating GL and finance systems with strong reconciliation controls.

Soft Skills

Excellent communication skills with ability to simplify complex technical concepts for business teams.

Ability to work independently as well as within cross-functional teams.

Highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities and meet timelines.

Nice to Have

Python scripting for integrations and automation.

End-to-end implementation experience across full project lifecycle.
