Role: API Developer

Location: Quincy, MA

Type: Contract- 12months- Possible extension.

Overview

The project aims to enhance the constituent experience in eligibility and enrollment processes by building an Integrated Eligibility and Enrollment program. The role involves developing scalable APIs and microservices while supporting DevOps activities across multiple environments.

Key Responsibilities

API Development

Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Java (8+).

Build and enhance Spring Boot microservices that consume JSON payloads from multiple external systems.

Implement business logic based on agency, notice type, and payload data.

Develop robust error handling, logging, and retry mechanisms.

Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.DevOps & Deployment

Support CI/CD pipelines for microservices.

Handle application deployments across DEV, QA, UAT, and PROD.

Manage environment-specific configurations and externalized properties.

Work with GitLab, Git, Jira, Jenkins for version control and CI/CD.

Monitor application logs, troubleshoot deployment issues, and support production incidents.

Work within Linux environments for application troubleshooting. Required Skills & Experience

7+ years overall IT experience.

5+ years hands-on backend/API development.

3-4 years of practical DevOps exposure.

Strong expertise in Java 8+ and Spring Boot microservices.

Experience building and consuming REST APIs.

Solid understanding of JSON, HTTP, and third-party integrations.

Experience in CI/CD, deployments, and configuration management.

Hands-on experience with AWS/Azure/Google Cloud Platform cloud deployments.

Experience with monitoring/logging tools: CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK. Nice to Have

Experience with government or large-scale enterprise systems.

Knowledge of asynchronous or messaging-based systems.

AWS Developer Certification.
