Overview:
The Director of Systems Engineering & Application Support leads a high-performing team of Infrastructure Engineers and Application Support specialists responsible for designing, engineering, monitoring, and operating mission-critical systems that power high-volume financial transactions within a highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities
Provide end-to-end leadership for infrastructure and application engineering, including system architecture, build, configuration, and full lifecycle management across both physical and virtual server ecosystems.
Oversee daily systems administration and application support operations, ensuring stability, security, availability, and compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
Develop and drive technology roadmaps that align with delivery priorities, production reliability, and long-term talent development.
Architect and direct complex infrastructure solutions spanning enterprise data centers, high-throughput transaction platforms, and regulatory-driven environments.
Lead engineering initiatives focused on system availability, resiliency, patching, hardening, performance tuning, and automated deployment frameworks.
Provide operational support across development, testing, and production environments, including incident management, root cause analysis, middleware maintenance, certificate management, and platform upgrades.
Partner with enterprise technology teams, audit, compliance, and business leaders to maintain governance, enforce controls, and ensure adherence to security and regulatory requirements.
Champion innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, driving automation adoption, and identifying opportunities to enhance system efficiency and scalability.
Maintain system security and data integrity by proactively analyzing system performance, monitoring security and system logs, and addressing issues before they impact availability.
Collaborate with vendors and service partners to optimize operational scale, improve service delivery, and support strategic technology initiatives.
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams while promoting consistent design practices, operational excellence, and high-quality communication with internal customers.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
5+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering or systems engineering.
Strong expertise in UNIX/Linux, Solaris, shell scripting, hardware/OS diagnostics, and enterprise server configuration (including experience with WebLogic).
Proven experience with system patching, hardening, automated deployment, and secure operational practices.
Demonstrated leadership experience supporting complex infrastructures, mission-critical applications, and high-availability environments.
