GENERAL SUMMARY

The Accounting Supervisor -Role is a hands on supervisor position that blends senior level technical accounting expertise with day-to-day team supervision in a fast-paced custom manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, and supporting Controller with timely and insightful financial analysis. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to support operational and strategic goals..

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Oversee and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and supported.

Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

Manage balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

Analyze financial performance and provide insights into trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities in partnership with the Controller

Partner with department leaders to ensure proper expense tracking and budget adherence.

Support product pricing and margin analysis by evaluating costs, profitability, and pricing assumptions.

Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing technical guidance, work direction, and ongoing coaching.

Assist with overseeing cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory-related entries, ensuring proper valuation and accuracy of inventory balances.

Review work product of the accounting team to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to policies and GAAP.

Participate in performance management activities, including goal setting, feedback, and development planning.

Serve as a backup for key accounting functions as needed to ensure continuity of operations.

Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.

Support internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, documentation, and explanations.

Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and control within the accounting function.

Stay current on applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS

Researches and remains up to date with new technical accounting standards and federal and state regulations

Communicate on behalf of the company to other contacts and agencies outside the company

Oversees preparation and filing of various reports required by external entities

Back up the Accounting team in a departmental absence of a team member

Other tasks as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Thorough knowledge of accounting standards, principles, theories, techniques, and practices (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Thorough knowledge of internal controls; ability to analyze and interpret accounting and financial records and recommend improvements

Excellent project management skills including the ability to coordinate multiple projects, work independently and meet deadlines

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate the technical work of the accounting team and provide effective training

Demonstration of advanced skill and proficiency in the utilization of spreadsheets, databases, general ledger applications and related sub-ledgers, data manipulation and reporting tools

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management and external organizations/individuals

Proficient computer skills in Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and previous experience with ERP software.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

5+ years of related experience in a similar role

Experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, and general ledger.
