About the Opportunity

Our client, a fast-growing technology organization in the Middle East, is seeking a Senior PHP Developer to lead a high-impact system upgrade project.

This role focuses on migrating mission-critical applications from PHP 7.3 to PHP 8.3+, ensuring performance optimization, security compliance, and long-term scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Lead migration of applications from PHP 7.3.33 to PHP 8.3+

Analyze legacy code to identify deprecated features and compatibility gaps

Refactor and optimize codebase to align with PHP 8.x standards

Upgrade frameworks, libraries, and dependencies for full compatibility

Improve error handling, typing, and performance under PHP 8.x

Collaborate with QA and development teams to validate system stability

Ensure security, performance, and reliability post-migration

Document technical changes, resolutions, and architectural decisions

Requirements

5–7+ years of professional PHP development experience

Strong hands-on experience with PHP 7.x and PHP 8.3+

Proven track record migrating applications between major PHP versions

Solid understanding of:

OOP principles

MVC architecture

Design patterns (Singleton, Factory, Repository, Dependency Injection)

Algorithms and data structures

Deep knowledge of:

PHP 8.x breaking changes & deprecated features

Error handling and performance optimization

Strong SQL database experience (MSSQL preferred)

Experience with REST APIs, JSON integrations

Proficiency with Git

Ability to write clean, maintainable, production-grade code
