Construction Inspector

Job Title: Construction Inspector Job Description We are seeking an experienced Construction Inspector to support roadway and infrastructure construction projects.

This role involves on-site inspection, documentation, and coordination to ensure construction activities comply with standards, plans, specifications, and contract requirements.

The ideal candidate will have ODOT prequalification(s) and prior experience inspecting roadway, pavement, and earthwork operations on ODOT-funded projects.

Responsibilities + Perform construction inspection services on ODOT transportation projects, including roadway, paving, grading, drainage, and utility work.

+ Inspect contractor operations to verify compliance with ODOT plans, specifications, and standard construction drawings.

+ Monitor construction activities related to flexible pavement placement, earthwork and embankment, aggregate base and subgrade preparation, asphalt paving operations.

+ Conduct field measurements and maintain accurate daily inspection reports, quantities, and documentation.

+ Coordinate with ODOT representatives, contractors, and project engineers to resolve field issues.

+ Verify materials compliance and assist with materials sampling and testing as required.

+ Enforce safety standards and identify potential quality or constructability concerns.

+ Support project closeout documentation and final quantities.

Essential Skills + ODOT construction inspection prequalification.

+ Familiarity with ODOT specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications + ODOT Asphalt Level 2 or higher strongly preferred.

+ ODOT Project Inspector Level I or II.

+ ODOT Prequalified Construction Engineer (CE). + ODOT Prequalified Soils & Aggregate Inspector.

+ ODOT Flexible Pavement.

+ NICET Highway Construction Level II.

+ NETTCP Soils & Aggregate Inspector.

+ ICC Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel and Bolting, Structural Masonry, Soils). Work Environment The work environment involves performing duties on construction sites and working outdoors year-round.

The position requires a variable schedule, with the possibility of overtime and weekend work.

During the summer, work weeks can extend to 60+ hours.

Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
