Burns Dirt is seeking a Site Manager to oversee the execution of prime contract civil packages for heavy civil construction projects. This role is responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle, including self-performed work and subcontractor oversight. The Site Manager will ensure that projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with specifications and regulations. This position is ideal for professionals with experience working under a general contractor, residential contractor, or other non-specialty contractor who are ready to take on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Oversight & Management
Lead and manage all on-site construction activities for prime civil contract packages.
Oversee both self-performed work and subcontractor operations to ensure efficiency and quality.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
Monitor and control project costs, resources, and material logistics.
Ensure compliance with all contractual requirements, codes, and safety regulations.
Manage multiple job sites and provide strategic oversight across projects as needed.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce Burns Dirt safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe job site.
Conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and hazard assessments.
Ensure subcontractors and field personnel adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations.
Leadership & Team Coordination
Supervise and mentor foremen, field personnel, and subcontractors.
Foster strong communication with project stakeholders, including owners, engineers, and regulatory agencies.
Proactively identify and resolve on-site challenges to maintain project momentum.
Cultivate a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high-performance standards.
Quality Control & Productivity
Ensure all construction activities meet project specifications and quality benchmarks.
Conduct routine inspections and enforce quality control procedures.
Identify and mitigate potential risks or project delays.
Equipment & Resource Management
Oversee the utilization and maintenance of heavy equipment and machinery.
Manage procurement and scheduling of materials to ensure seamless project execution.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely delivery of construction resources.
Qualifications & Requirements
Strong background in prime contract management and general contracting operations.
Proficiency in grading, excavation, utilities, concrete, and infrastructure construction.
Proven ability to manage large-scale projects ($20M+ preferred).
Experience with construction management software (e.g.,HCSS, ProjectSight).
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Meeting Cadence & Operating Rhythm
Daily crew huddles and check-ins with Crew Leaders to confirm manpower, equipment, sequencing, safety focus, and immediate constraints.
Weekly production planning with Crew Leaders; ensure execution of weekly safety toolbox talks and Friday safety stand-downs.
Weekly coordination with the Project Manager on schedule alignment, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and scope or cost impacts.
Monthly project controls and monthly cost reviews to support schedule adherence, productivity, and budget performance.
Contribute to quarterly reviews and annual closeout sessions focused on backlog planning, safety trends, lessons learned, and workforce planning.
