A global energy services and solutions company (NYSE-listed) with operations on six continents is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer for its Arkansas operations. The company is focused on environmentally conscious services and expanding into the low-carbon energy market with a diverse portfolio including Energy Services, Industrial Chemicals, and Critical Minerals.
Position Summary
Reporting to the site Operations Manager, the Chemical Process Engineer provides expertise in developing existing and new processes and projects. This role requires a strong blend of design engineering capabilities and hands-on plant operations experience, working collaboratively across R&D, Operations, Contractors, and Sales teams to drive process improvements and project execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop new and existing processes from concept to finished operating process
Design and develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
Produce material and energy balances for all new or existing operations
Utilize CAD programs to build or modify line drawings and technical documentation
Perform complex chemical engineering calculations and provide primary support to resolve process upsets
Troubleshoot process issues and provide support during startups, shutdowns, and plant turnarounds
Track daily production volumes and raw material utilization
Lead projects by building cross-functional teams, developing executable scopes of work, building cost models (OPEX and CAPEX), acquiring equipment, writing procedures and test plans, and conducting startups
Investigate and identify root causes of incidents and develop corrective actions
Develop and complete Management of Change (MOC) documentation
Provide training to aid in developing others on process improvements
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required
Experience:
3–5 years of active process or project experience in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated hands-on experience troubleshooting chemical processes in an operating plant
Experience with process design, including material balances, energy balances, and equipment sizing
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
Working knowledge of CAD programs for technical drawings
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform complex engineering calculations
Familiarity with Management of Change (MOC) processes
Other Requirements:
Ability to serve on Emergency Response Team (fire brigade, HAZMAT, rescue, or first responder)
Must possess a valid Driver's License
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment
This is a field-based position where employees may be exposed to various outside weather conditions including rain, humidity, snow, and heat during daytime and nighttime hours. The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to loud for extended periods of time.
