UTILITIES LOCATOR

Michigan Broadband Services has an immediate opening for a seasonal Locator. This position is valid for approximately 6 months with a projected start date of April 1, 2025. A seasonal employee with Michigan Broadband Services is not eligible for our benefit platform, however, this position does have the potential to turn into a full-time position. We offer a competitive wage and on the job training. We want our candidates to be successful! A vehicle and gas card will be provided for the daily work. Some weekends and overtime are required. This position is per diem eligible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Identify the presence and location of underground copper and fiber optic cables using a cable locator

• Determine the function of the cables found, which will include copper phone lines and fiber optic cables

• Clearly mark the location of identified utilities on the surface using paint, flags, or other methods to ensure they are visible to construction crews

• Keep accurate records of the location and depth of utilities

• Respond to Miss Dig requests in a timely manner to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards

• Analyze and interpret utility maps to understand the layout of the infrastructure

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable with our fleet insurance carrier

• Minimum of 18 years of age

• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions

• Able to walk/stand for up to 8 hours per day

• Must be willing to travel daily as needed to complete tasks
