Position Summary
The Planning/Layout/Design Specialist is involved in the planning, layout, design, coordination and pre-fabrication on projects. This person has a thorough knowledge of electrical systems, construction documents, and quality construction work practices.
Key Responsibilities
Maintains regular contact with project personnel as well as professional relationships with designers, owners, and subcontractors
Outlines job specifications and reviews material submittals for project requirements
Supports preconstruction, pre-fabrication and construction teams with electrical/systems/ construction related issues
Aids in the creation of detailed bill of materials
Educates field personnel on layout/design processes and supports project efforts
Creates detailed layout drawings while adhering to company standards
Seeks ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall layout efforts
Communicate ideas for continuous improvement in standards and workflows
Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education
Minimum of 5 years field construction experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Experience with team collaboration
Proficient in reading and understanding of all forms of construction documents
Ability to interpret 2D plans and provide input to a 3D model
Skills & Competencies
Demonstrates a willingness to learn and efficiently use software such as BIM360, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel and Outlook, Navisworks, Revit, and file sharing platforms
Demonstrates problem-solving ability and strong sense of urgency
Demonstrates organizational and communication skills
A commitment to continued learning and development
Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone and video calls
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Must be able to stand, bend, lift and move intermittently
Ability to withstand extended exposure to a computer monitor, which may at times be straining on the eyes
Ability to carry up to 20 pounds
