Description Summary: The Network Engineer 2's primary duties include initial implementation of technical designs.
Primary duties include overseeing daily data center operations, leading teams of SmartHands technicians while ensuring consistent execution of standards, procedures, and best practices.
The role includes supervising facility operations such as power, cooling, cabling, and Colo assigned SmartHands services.
Ensures rapid incident response, drives up time and SLA compliance, and leads change control, root cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions.
Handle capacity planning by forecasting space, power, cooling, storage/network infrastructure.
Collaborating with facilities and engineering to support expansions or infrastructure upgrades.
Acting as a senior customer liaison, manage escalations, project work, and communication.
Additionally, oversee physical security, compliance with audit frameworks, and adherence to access control protocols.
Budget oversight, vendor coordination, inventory management, and procurement are also key responsibilities, along with continuous process improvement, adoption of monitoring and DCIM tools (Nlyte a plus). Ensure environmental and safety compliance, lead emergency preparedness, and collaborate with cross functional teams to support strategic and operational initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: * Provides effective production support including accurate problem identification, ticket documentation and customer/vendor dialogue.
* Documents small-to medium-scale projects and delivers presentations with minimal supervision.
* Dissects complex situations and refocuses on critical technology tasks.
* Must have a high degree of technical expertise/professional mastery to recommend process improvements.
* Is often consulted by peers and seen as the informal leader on tactical problems.
* Provide Level 1/2 engineering support for the corporate enterprise network.
* Verify hardware/software requirements, design and configure Local Area Network/Wide Area Network, Data Center Network and/or Voice Network Technologies.
* Perform network equipment provisioning, equipment configuration, installation, monitoring and troubleshooting.
* Supports network technologies and provides a high level of user support.
* Maintains current professional and technical skills.
* Keeps abreast of current and emerging technologies, how they integrate and drive value for Huntington.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications: * Associates Degree or relevant working experience * 3+ years of related experience working within a production data center environment.
Preferred Qualifications: * Professional working experience with Nlyte, or any other DCIM tool (Data Center Infrastructure Management). * Hands on experience with Microsoft Layers, (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, etc) * Cross functional work with all hardware engineering streams including mainframe, storage, compute, cyber security, network, data center vendors, and other hardware engineers.
* Professional experience with ServiceNow, or other incident management tools.
* Professional experience with reporting tools; building dashboards, or familiarity with data analytics for reporting purposes.
* Advanced understanding of business technology drivers and their impact on architecture design * Advanced understanding of performance and monitoring * Proficient in more than one specific infrastructure technology * Advanced understanding of best practices and HNB policies * Advanced troubleshooting skills * Technical certifications as required, CCNP preferred.
* Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) and ability to work both independently and in a group.
* Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize.
Self-directed and accountable * Assist in administrative duties and assist raised floor manager where necessary.
* Provide support to Manager and Team lead as necessary * Work with vendors such as electricians and cabling contractors as well as the Colocation vendors.
* Responsible for move, adds and changes understand the change control and approval process.
Assist with incidents as needed.
* Oversee space and power planning as well as space and power monitoring and utilization reporting of raised floor environment.
* Communicate across multiple IT groups.
* Help with the building and support of multiple data centers at one time.
* Has experience in the data center environment, understandings of the criticality of a mission critical data center.
