POSITION: Elementary Paraeducator START DATE: TBD APPLICATION CLOSE DATE: 03/02/2026 LOCATION: Kalama Elementary School SALARY: $22.94 - $26.15/hour DOE / 7 hour position (8:00 a.m.

- 3:30 p.m.) / 189 days per year (180 student days and 9 holidays) Benefits: Position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and LTD through the School Employee Benefits Board (SEBB), effective the first of the month after the start date.

Position is eligible for retirement through the WA State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). SUMMARY STATEMENT Under the direction and supervision of building principal, the Paraeducator performs tasks related to the monitoring and supervising of students on campus during school.

A desire and ability to work with students is essential in this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Monitor students during school * Maintain safety of students and act as a positive role model * Assist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g.

reading stories, listening to students reading, language, spelling, etc.) * Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs * Know and follow health, safety, and emergency procedures of the district * Communicate successfully with staff, students, and parents * Demonstrate professionalism through punctuality and minimal absences * Promote and practice professional growth and development * Practice ethical and professional standards of conduct, including the requirements of confidentiality * Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments * Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs * Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task * Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related non-instructional areas * Construct, copy, and distribute and use educational materials as needed * Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement of IEP objectives, etc.

APPLICANT MUST: * Be 18 years or older * Have a High School Diploma or Equivalent * Have completed one of the following requirements: (1) Documentation to support an Associate's Degree or transcripts to verify the comparable equivalence (i.e.

72 college quarter credits or 48 semester credits from an accredited university, college, community college, or business school), or 2) ETS ParaPro Assessment with a passing score of 455, or (3) Pearson Paraprofessional assessment: 220, or (4) The MAster Teacher Inc.

Paraeducator Online Training Program: 65%, * Experience or training working with students * Experience with Restorative Justice Practices preferred * Ability to work and communicate well with staff members * Ability to follow a variety of prescribed education strategies * Ability to independently complete assigned tasks * Knowledge of and ability to assist in reducing negative behaviors * Knowledge of and ability to instruct in reading, writing, and mathematics * Strong communication and problem solving skills * Be able to follow directions in a cooperative work environment Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
