What you’ll do at DBH:
Under general direction, the IT Enterprise Architect creates and edits IT artifacts for recommendation and approval, including technical policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and best practices. This role serves as architect for overall analysis, project planning, solution design and development, governance, and implementation of technology initiatives aligned with the organization’s technology roadmap.
This position provides strategic and hands-on leadership across the Salesforce ecosystem and enterprise technology landscape, ensuring scalable, secure, and innovative solutions that meet business and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Strategy
Lead architectural analysis, planning, governance, and implementation of enterprise technology solutions.
Develop and maintain technical policies, procedures, standards, and best practices across information systems.
Evaluate, prepare, and review organizational technology strategy.
Develop technical, strategic, and business plans.
Design and execute technical/system audits and provide audit responses.
Represent the agency at conferences, statewide IT meetings, and professional forums.
Salesforce & Platform Leadership
Serve as technical architect within the Salesforce ecosystem, including initiatives such as org splits, org health, and AI/mobile strategy.
Lead integration efforts with external systems using technologies such as MuleSoft and Tableau.
Build proof of concepts and innovation pilots.
Develop data models and architectural diagrams for complex projects.
Work with Salesforce Support to resolve technical obstacles.
Support development on Platform as a Service (PaaS) and low-code platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Apex, Java/J2EE, APIs, mobile).
Project Governance & Management
Develop high-level project plans and assist in execution of complex and/or sensitive projects.
Define and implement project management standards, methodologies, tools, and timelines.
Conduct resource planning and coordinate complex solutions across multiple projects.
Advise project managers and customers on technical strategy, solutions, and future technology trends.
Participate in RFP creation, review, and scoring.
Direct proposal preparation for equipment and contract services.
Technology Evaluation & Innovation
Evaluate information systems needs and research complex systems challenges.
Develop purchasing recommendations and coordinate procurement activities.
Assist in life cycle planning and forecasting for products and services.
Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and emerging technologies.
Develop use cases and proof-of-concept models leveraging industry innovations.
Lead innovation initiatives to improve efficiency, scalability, and service delivery.
Leadership & Collaboration
Provide guidance to administrators, project managers, technical staff, and customers.
Develop and deliver training for varying skill levels.
Help management design staff training plans.
Facilitate staff meetings and promote leadership development.
Prepare and deliver presentations and speeches to professional organizations.
Travel in- and out-of-state to collaborate with government officials, service providers, and partners.
Administrative & Operational Duties
Prepare required administrative reports and correspondence.
Maintain logs, records, and documentation.
Operate personal computer systems to produce reports and documents.
Assist in developing office/division policies and procedures.
This is an hourly position covered by the OCSEA/AFSCME bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 36 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm. This position is located within our Office of Chief of Staff, headquartered at the James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 27th floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
Education Core undergraduate program in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
AND Experience Minimum 4 years combined work experience in any combination of the following: assisting with development and updates to the strategic Information Technology plan, participating in work groups to author Information Technology plan by discipline/program team and/or leading activities to achieve project tasks/meet deadlines, and performing solutions design for assigned discipline/program team (e.g., software development, infrastructure, database administration, security) including 2 years technology related work experience as specified by the agency position description and vacancy/job posting.
