Communication Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Timor-Leste

CI’s work in Timor-Leste began in 2009, followed by the establishment of our office in 2012. Our work aims to improve local food security, fight climate change, and enhance livelihoods primarily through the establishment of a functioning national protected area network. We are working directly with government and local communities to research, implement, and improve the management of protected areas on land and at sea, through national parks and no-take zones. Through a blend of science, policy, and fieldwork, we further provide innovative solutions to key environmental issues such as unsustainable fishing practices, deforestation, and climate change teams.

This position will work under the direction of Project Manager, the main responsibility will be developing a Communications Plan for SOMACORE Project, Writing Media Releases, Writing and Updating online and Social Media pages related to SOMACORE Projects, closely work on supporting donor technical report, the jobs include back- Stopping the project field team in understanding, Creating, and implementing various and articles relevant to SOMACORE Projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work closely with the Project Manager and Communication Coordinator on Develop and implement a communications plan for the SOMACORE Project.

Work closely with the Project Manager, the Project teams, and the Communication Coordinator in establishing data of evidence-based and release success stories for SOMACORE Project.

Assist in implementing the communication and visibility plan of the IKI SOMACORE Project.

Manage content for newsletters, press releases, reports, and social media platform and websites.

Coordinate the production of visual content (videos, infographics, brochures, etc.).

Organize and support communication aspects of events, workshops, high level and field visits.

Monitor media coverage and maintain a record of press hits and communication metrics.

Publishing content of SOMACORE Projects activities into Cl Facebook page, Website, blogs, newsletters and ensure regular update of project content.

Assist with translation and proofreading of communication materials (if needed).

Ensure project branding guidelines and donor visibility rules (IKI) are respected in all communication products.

Support on development and disseminate public relations material that increase the visibility of Cl among stakeholder and other organizations.

Assist with other external and internal communications duties as needed.

Work closely with the Project Manager and SOMACORE Team.

Working closely with Program Managers for final layout of activities and Donor Reports.

Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor. Support and assist the Project Manager in ensuring effective and efficient Publication of SOMACORE project as assigned to this position, including coordination with Cl staff, Partner communities, government, and other stakeholders.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge and a sound level of Portuguese is an advantage.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Periodic travel to the project site and other office locations.

Comfortable working out of doors for extended periods.

Ability to work outside the normal work schedule to meet project deadlines.

This is a fixed-term position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Up to 2 years of related work experience in Communication or a relevant field with an international agency or NGO.

Prior Experience developing and Implementing Communication strategies and plans.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Solid attention to detail and strong research and proofreading skills.

Extensive experience in producing communication products and content in a variety of formats.

Experience in managing social media platforms.

Outstanding organizational and planning abilities.

Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills, as well as a high attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of employees and partners in a team setting.

Demonstrated level of working with minimal supervision.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, communication, or a relevant field.

Experience working with Media outlets (TV, radio, print) in Timor-Leste preferred.

Graphic Design, photography, and/or video production and editing skills, and great writer high advantageous.
