Position: Network Engineer

Duration and Type: 6 Month Contract-to-Hire

Location: Columbus OH - 100% Remote

Interview: Video

Level of experience: 4-5 years (mid-level)

Travel: None

We are looking for a mid-level Network Engineer with 4-5 years of experience to support and optimize our hybrid network environment across on prem data centers and AWS. The ideal candidate has strong Cisco routing/switching skills and experience with AWS networking services.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and support LAN/WAN architectures in on prem and cloud (AWS) environments.

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches (routing protocols, VLANs, STP, QoS, etc.).

Build and support AWS network components including VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and VPN/Direct Connect.

Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive improvements in availability, latency, and reliability.

Collaborate with security, cloud, and application teams to deliver secure and resilient network solutions.

Maintain up-to-date network documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills & Experience

4-5 years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer or similar role.

Strong experience with Cisco routing and switching (e.g., OSPF/BGP, EIGRP, VLANs, trunking, EtherChannel, HSRP/VRRP).

Working knowledge of AWS networking (VPC, route tables, NAT, Internet Gateway, security groups, NACLs, VPN/Direct Connect).

Solid understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, and general network troubleshooting.

Experience supporting hybrid network environments (on prem and cloud).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with clear, concise communication.

Preferred Qualifications

Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP) and/or AWS networking-related certifications are a plus.

Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, CloudWatch) and automation (e.g., Python, Terraform) is an advantage.
