The Job

The Innovation and Technology Department (ITD) is accepting applications for Computer Operator II. Duties include operating the enterprise print and mainframe environment. Managing the enterprise scheduling platform. Providing service desk functions such as request routing, escalation, and working with after-hours support. Monitoring of the County's enterprise systems, servers, and data center.

This is the experienced working level in the Computer Operator series. Incumbents are expected to perform routine and daily tasks with the associated peripheral equipment on a rotating basis.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam prior to employment.

Work Hours: Incumbents are required to be available to work ALL SHIFTS, which includes day, swing, night, rotating, weekends, and holidays. The County pays an hourly differential for those employees working evening and night shifts.

Physical Requirements: Duties may involve lifting up to fifty (50) pounds; bending, stooping, and kneeling.

Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.

Minimum Requirements

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience operating an IBM Mainframe or Microsoft Windows Server environment.

-AND-

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Nine (9) semester (14 quarter) units of accredited college-level coursework in data processing, computer operations, programming or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted if a degree has not been conferred.

Education Substitution: Possession of a Systems Z certificate or Microsoft Server Certificate may substitute for the required education. A legible copy of the Systems Z or Microsoft Server certificate must be submitted by attaching it to your application.
