Our client, a licensed financial services institution based in Malta, is seeking a Payments Processing Officer to join its Operations team. The selected candidate will support the day-to-day processing of transactions and ensure smooth and compliant payment operations.

This role offers exposure to core payment systems and collaboration with various internal departments within a structured environment.

Responsibilities

Process and monitor daily incoming and outgoing payments, including manual, single, batch, and urgent transactions via SEPA, SWIFT, and third-party providers

Ensure all transactions are handled in accordance with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and applicable cut-off times

Coordinate with internal teams (cards, lending, corporate, and retail deposits) on payment-related matters

Liaise with correspondent banks and external payment service providers regarding operational queries

Prepare daily reports to support reconciliation activities

Assist with reviewing invoices and settlement statements from correspondent banks and third-party providers

Support prepaid cards, credit cards, retail deposits, and corporate back-office functions when required

Contribute to maintaining and improving operational procedures and processes

Perform additional operational duties as assigned by management

Requirements

Previous experience in a similar operational role within a financial services institution

Ordinary or Advanced level education (or equivalent qualification)

Strong written and spoken English (Spanish Language will be considered as an asset)

Good organisational and time management skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel

Experience with correspondent banks, SEPA, SWIFT, or payment service providers (considered as an asset)

Exposure to card issuing and acquiring and experience in a Treasury Function (considered as an asset)

Annual Performance bonus of 10%
