Responsibilities:
Directs the activities of the department on assigned shift in order to accurately separate and ship product to appropriate destination
Supervises, trains and directs shipping personnel
Addresses any employee issues and reports complaints/concerns to the proper manager (i.e. Department Manager & Distribution Manager)
Monitors employee performance on a daily basis by doing frequent walk- throughs of the work area and reviewing related work.
Participates in the disciplinary process by issuing corrective actions in accordance with the union contract and other related company policies & procedures and communicating with the appropriate contacts (i.e. Department Head Distribution Manager)
Makes adjustments in personnel assignments to cover absenteeism and emergencies. Notes employee attendance & punctuality in the computer.
Meets with previous supervisors to communicate any issues from the prior shift
Contacts customers immediately upon knowing product will be late or orders cut
Keeps product staging areas and lanes organized
Keeps the floor areas clean and organized
Completes paperwork with accuracy and neatness
Performs trailer checks, includes sweeping and checking for damage. Documents information and submits to transportation department.
Communicates with supervisors to make sure product counts are correct on each truck (i.e. reconciling trailer paperwork)
Safety:
Maintains safe working environment for all employees/contractors/visitors by following safety guidelines and reporting all incidents to management
Participates in incident/accident investigations and completes required paperwork
Promotes employee safety in all areas of operations.
Sanitation:
Ensures department personnel maintain cleanliness of the work area.
Ensures proper G. M. P.'s are followed at all times and takes necessary corrective action for violations.
Other related duties as assigned by Manager
Qualifications:
Computer Skills a must
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Two Years or more of experience in distribution preferred, will train right person
Must be able to count and perform basic math
Must be able to read and comprehend department materials and specifically load sheets
Must be capable of lifting or maneuvering up to 50 pounds
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to reach approximately 7 feet high to move product
Must be physically capable of moving to all areas of the plant
Must be able to view product and determine adherence to quality control standards including size, shape, color, cut, etc.
Must be able to perform all duties so as not to produce damage
Must be able to read, comprehend and practice necessary safety procedures, signs, etc
Valid driver's license and own transportation a must
Must be flexible with hours
Work Environment:
In performing the duties of this job, the individual is exposed to humid conditions, hot or cold climate.
Vision Requirements:
Near vision needed to read and prepare paper and computerized data and reports, and to examine and compile records.
Training Required:
The individual must complete all annual safety training, ergonomics, and any specialized and/or skill ware training this is required to perform his/her job.
