The Forklift Operator in the Press Room is responsible for safely and efficiently handling, transporting, and positioning materials, products, tools, equipment, and containers throughout designated production areas. This role directly supports manufacturing operations by delivering materials to machines, transporting empty containers, moving scrap, retrieving tools, and ensuring accurate digital tracking through the ERP forklift dispatch system.
Hours:
Shift 21: Friday-Sunday, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM
Hourly rate of pay: $19.25 per hour base rate plus $3.50 per hour shift differential. Relevant experience may increase base pay up to $20.25 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
Utilize all functions of the ERP forklift dispatch system through the forklift-mounted tablet to accurately locate and identify items
Transport materials and products to and from machines as requested
Move empty containers to and from machines to support production flow
Retrieve press tools from tool storage skids and deliver them to the appropriate machine
Assist machine operators in positioning tools within the press when needed
Use scales to count parts by weight within containers when requested
Identify correct scrap container types and relocate scrap containers as needed
Weigh scrap containers, document weights for DOT compliance, and empty scrap into designated scrap trailers
Change and maintain forklift batteries to ensure continuous operation throughout the shift
Requirements
6-12 months of relevant experience required
Understanding of safe rack-placement rules including height and weight restrictions
Ability to work safely, maintain focus, and make independent decisions regarding container substitutions and placementPhysical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a forklift
Ability to lift, pull, or move tools or scrap bins as needed
Required PPE: eye protection, hearing protection, MET guard safety shoes
