Job Purpose:
Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, the Process Designer is responsible for creating the manufacturing job packet that specifies tooling requests and programing requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Gather all details necessary to generate the manufacturing job packet.
Creating, managing, and maintaining routings.
Generates jobs, tooling requests, programming requirements, and fixture requests.
Checks engineering drawing for correctness, revisions and dates.
Create and enter Bills of Material (BOM) and Routing information using appropriate guidelines.
Update existing BOM and Routings as necessary based on feedback from engineering and production.
Determines make vs purchase decisions.
Communicates with Manufacturing Manager, Purchasing Department, Tool Design Department and the CNC Programming Departments to ensure that all aspects of the manufacturing process are taken into consideration.
Assists with monitoring of engineering change notices and completes if necessary.
Acts as liaison between the Manufacturing Department and Design Engineering Department to answer questions pertaining to dimensions, tolerances, clarify terminology, and ensure manufacturability.
Uses applicable engineering standards and computer software's such as Syteline, CAD Software, and Microsoft Suite to complete work.
Process customer orders conform to DFARS/Government and/or nuclear requirements.
Maintains intermediate level of departmental knowledge and exemplifies best practices.
Attends all company required trainings and meetings. (ie safety and department meetings)
Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
Candidates will be considered at Level I, II, or III based on education, experience, and demonstrated capability.
Process Designer I: High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years related experience and/or training. Syteline ERP and/or CAD Software experience a plus.
Process Designer II: High School Diploma or equivalent and 6+ years related experience and/or training OR associate's degree and 3+ years' experience. Syteline ERP and/or CAD Software experience a plus.
Process Designer III: Associates degree and 6+ years' experience OR High School Diploma or equivalent and 9+ years in Manufacturing Industry with related experience and/or training. CAD Software experience required.
