Job Summary
A position is available in the Engineering & Planning department for an individual with four years of GIS experience or water related fields with additional training in ESRI GIS software.
Principal Responsibilities
Updates and maintains GIS as needed including the addition of main breaks, cross connections, asset attribute information and map corrections
Responds to outside and inside inquiries for GIS information and mapping
Works to insure efficient integration of the GIS and SAP systems
Scans drawings and tap cards. Attaches scanned information to GIS
Add distribution assets into GIS
Integrate assets into GIS from AutoCAD files
Develops and documents new GIS workflows
Performs analysis, queries and reports on GIS data
Develops specialized maps as needed for various departments in the organization
Assists in implementing mobile GIS applications
Integrates information from individual town GIS systems with Aquarion GIS.
Assists in delivering information from GIS to Asset Management software.
Performs tests for GIS related updates, integration and tools
Coordinates work for interns
Delivers timely water system updates to Call Before You Dig
Delivers timely system updates for Customer Service Reverse 911software
Oversees and assists with updates to Real Estate, MA and NH datasets in GIS
Performs any activities necessary for the efficient operation of GIS and any other Engineering related projects
Works with supervisor to develop new applications in conjunction with outside consultants
Oversee GIS group in absence of senior staff members
Preferred Requirements
Position requires a thorough knowledge of ESRI GIS software; knowledge of field data collection methods using GPS and mobile computing equipment; knowledge of personal computer systems and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of plotting and scanning equipment; familiarity with water-related infrastructure; knowledge of data and proprietary information security policies; knowledge in using AutoCAD in ESRI products.
Problem Solving:
Possesses exceptional problem-solving skills, applying expert-level Customer Service knowledge to identify issues, develop solutions, and assess their effectiveness.
Capable of distinguishing between process-related and technical issues, leveraging advanced systems knowledge to ensure timely and effective resolution.
Education/Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Geography or related technical field.
Salary
Job is classified as an exempt position with a range of $65,000 to $80,000.
This role reports out of the Bridgeport, CT office.
Hours for this role are 8:00AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.
After 3 months of successful employment, this role will be eligible for a hybrid schedule (3 days office/2 days remote). However, based on business needs—such as training, testing, or project work—the employee may be required to work on-site for specific periods. Any such adjustments will be communicated in advance.
