Job Description
A Press Brake Operatorsets up, calibrates, and operates machinery to bend, fold, and shape sheet metal according to blueprints, CAD files, or job orders. They ensure precise, high-quality components, perform routine maintenance, and adhere to safety protocols. The role involves reading technical drawings, selecting tools, and inspecting parts for defects.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup:Select proper dies and punches for the press brake, inputting data, and calibrating the machine for specific bends.
Operations:Operate computer-controlled (CNC) or manual press brakes to form metal parts to specifications.
Quality Inspection:Measure finished pieces using calipers, gauges, or blueprints to ensure accuracy.
Reading Blueprints:Interpret technical drawings and, if necessary, understand programming and mathematics for accurate fabrication.
Maintenance:Perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance on machinery to ensure proper function.
Safety and Efficiency:Maintain a clean, safe workspace, often working in a fast-paced, noisy industrial environment.Indeed
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Knowledge:Understanding of metal fabrication principles, shop math (addition, subtraction, fractions, decimals), and blueprint reading.
Experience:Previous experience in manufacturing, machine operation, or CNC programming is often required.
Physical Stamina:Ability to stand for long periods, walk, and frequently lift/maneuver metal materials up to 25-50 pounds.
Attention to Detail:High precision to prevent errors in metal bending.
