Provide advanced engineering and technical expertise to lead problem solving and design for electrical high voltage transmission systems operation and maintenance functions in the electric utility industry. Assist clients with advanced electric system design, GIS substation, grid analytics, renewable energy, battery storage integration, and grid modernization efforts. Visit client sites to advise on substation engineering issues and modify designs to solve issues encountered in construction and manufacturing processes. Provide on-site real time engineering support, provide immediate condition assessments and provide alternative design changes, as needed. Serve as lead engineer on multi-disciplinary, complex projects, which includes high profile
engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) projects. Interpret results from various studies and effectively apply those results to design development and communicate those across multi-discipline teams. These studies
include, at a minimum, electrical transmission system planning, battery energy storage, renewable generation systems using software packages including AutoCAD, CYME, Synergi, Milsoft PSCAD, ETAP, WinIGS, and CDEGS. Travel to the customer’s site and attend pre-engineering and pre-construction meetings, job site to provide construction support. Travel generally ranges from 10-20% but may require isolated periods extending to several weeks of full time travel for critical project site support needs.
5 years of direct substation and high voltage experience as an engineer within the electrical industry, and demonstrated experience with: Leading or overseeing the resolution of engineering and technical problems for utility substations, GIS substation, battery energy storage systems, or solar collector substations projects; Leading high-voltage electrical design work on multi-discipline projects; Physical substation design, including development of equipment arrangements for various typical and atypical transmission and distribution substation.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering degree. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in above listed fields plus 3 years of direct substation and high voltage experience as an engineer within the electrical industry.
