What You'll Do
The Director of Data Products is responsible for defining and delivering a portfolio of pharmacy derived data products that enable clinical, operational, financial, and population health insights across the enterprise and for external customers. This role transforms complex healthcare data—claims, clinical, pharmacy, provider, and access data—into trusted, scalable, and compliant products that drive better outcomes, affordability, and performance.
The Director partners closely with clinical, pharmacy, operations, compliance, technology, and analytics teams to ensure data products support regulatory requirements, care delivery, value-based care, and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Pharmacy Data Product Strategy & Vision
Define and own the pharmacy data product strategy, aligning with enterprise objectives such as quality improvement, cost containment, access, and population health.
Develop and manage a multi-year roadmap for healthcare data platforms and products, including claims, clinical, pharmacy, provider, risk adjustment, quality, and utilization data assets.
Identify opportunities to enable value-based care, regulatory reporting, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Product Development & Delivery
Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of pharmacy data products, from discovery and business case development through design, launch, adoption, and optimization.
Partner with data engineering, analytics, interoperability, and platform teams to deliver reliable, performant, and scalable data products.
Define product requirements, KPIs, and success metrics such as data quality, timeliness, completeness, user adoption, and business impact.
Cross-Functional & Clinical Partnership
Serve as the primary data product leader, collaborating with Access, Provider, Pharmacy, Operations, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Engineering stakeholders.
Translate Pharmacy and data complexity into clear insights and value propositions for executive, clinical, and non-technical audiences.
Support client-facing, sales, and account teams with pharmacy data product positioning, reporting capabilities, and analytics enablement (as applicable).
Data Governance, Privacy & Compliance
Ensure healthcare data products comply with HIPAA, HITECH, CMS, state regulations, and internal privacy and security standards.
Partner with governance teams to implement data stewardship, lineage, metadata management, role-based access, and auditability.
Drive a culture of data trust, accuracy, and responsible use, particularly for clinical and member-sensitive data.
Financial & Value Management
Own prioritization, funding requests, and ROI measurement for healthcare data product investments.
Quantify and communicate value across quality performance, medical cost savings, operational efficiency, and risk reduction.
Advanced Analytics & Innovation
Champion innovation in predictive analytics, AI/ML-enabled insights, population health analytics, and real-time reporting.
Evaluate and integrate external data sources (e.g., SDOH, clinical feeds, digital health, pharmacy data) to enhance product differentiation.
People Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data product managers and product owners.
Establish best practices for healthcare data product management, agile execution, and stakeholder engagement.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, MPH, MS in Health Informatics, Analytics, or related advanced degree strongly preferred.
8–12+ years of experience in healthcare data, analytics, or product management roles.
Deep knowledge of healthcare data domains, including claims, clinical (EHR), pharmacy, provider, and quality data.
Experience operating in highly regulated healthcare environments.
Proven ability to deliver complex data products with measurable clinical, operational, or financial outcomes.
Strong executive communication and influence skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience within a health plan, PBM, provider system, or healthcare technology company.
Familiarity with value-based care, quality measurement (HEDIS, Stars), risk adjustment, and utilization management.
Experience supporting regulatory reporting and compliance use cases.
Prior people leadership experience in data or product organizations.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
