The Illumination Works 2026 Internship Program runs from May 2026 to August 2026. Start and end dates within those months are flexible, ensuring a minimum internship duration of 10 or more weeks. Please note your availability, including start, end, and any vacation days/weeks on your Cover Letter.
Responsibilities may include:
Collaborate with the engineering team to design, develop, test, and deploy software applications that support the company's business goals
Write clean, maintainable code in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or other relevant languages
Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining APIs, microservices, and web applications
Contribute to the improvement of software architecture, scalability, and efficiency by applying best practices
Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality software delivery
Work closely with data scientists and data engineers to integrate machine learning models and data solutions into applications
Communicate findings and present results to the project team, leadership, and fellow interns, providing clear recommendations and next steps
Must have qualifications:
College senior or recent graduate in a 4-year university pursuing a degree in a relevant field (i.e., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or other related scientific field)
Minimum GPA of 3.4 on a 4.00 scale
Strong experience in software development and object-oriented programming, with proficiency in programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or similar
Familiarity with software development tools and version control (e.g., Git)
Knowledge of web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (e.g., React)
Experience with database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
Innovative, creative, out-of-box thinking with willingness to learn new skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Acceptable candidates must successfully pass a drug test, pass a background screen, and provide official transcripts

Additional desired qualifications:
Experience working in an agile framework with tools such as Jira
