Summary:

The Programmer Analyst provides technical and consultative support across the complex application and system environments. Working under moderate direction, this role is responsible for designing and updating procedures to resolve sophisticated application challenges. Understanding system capabilities, performance constraints, and desired outcomes need to be assessed. Responsibilities include coding and scripting, testing, debugging, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of applications. The Programmer Analyst is expected to operate at an high level across all phases of application engineering.

This position requires a hybrid skill set in both Mainframe and REST API development. The ideal candidate will have experience with Mainframe technologies as well as Java and Swagger for API services. While proficiency in both domains is uncommon, candidates with deep expertise in either Mainframe or API development—and a strong willingness to learn the other—will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Work as a key technical team member to do the work necessary to deliver on our product goals. Develop new applications and feature enhancements leveraging your skills and expertise.

Analyze, design, and develop systems based upon user specifications.

Possesses an in-depth knowledge of and works with the technical tools available for systems development and support.

Act as a technical subject matter expert for key systems. Support routine and ad-hoc research and discovery.

Support continuous improvement of our products, our team operating cadences and our run-state operations (logging, monitoring, alerting, metrics, level 2, and documenting of knowledge for scalability across the technical team).

Work with other technical teams to arrange for technical dependencies and cross-collaboration.

Provide advice on system design issues and contribute to ongoing planning and development of systems enhancements.

Foster a sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles.

Coach/mentor other team members as appropriate.

Inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction (product/agile/devops).

Experience working in multi-platform environment (or willing to learn more than one).

Provide on call support after hours as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or other related field/experience

3+ years of relevant experience working with technology teams to deliver business and technical solutions.

Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple priorities and effectively prioritize them.

Ability to balance both development and support roles.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

High level of professionalism and confidence with the ability to build credibility with leadership, team members, and business partners and establish effective working relationships.

Ability to problem-solve to produce quality deliverables on time and on budget.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels and explain technical concepts clearly and concisely to multiple layers of peers and leadership.

Desired Mainframe Skills

COBOL/DB2/CICS/VSAM.

JCL experience with Procs, Includes, Symbolics, etc.

Sort utilities such as IBM’s DFSORT or SYNCSORT’s SYNCSORT.

Utilities such as IEBGENER, IEBCOPY, etc.

Good working knowledge of general programming support tools, such as but not limited to TSO/ISPF, FTP, Windows.

File-Aid utility in both the online and batch modes.

Xpediter, IBM’s Debug tool or an equivalent debugging tool.

IBM’s Fault Analyzer or an equivalent dump analysis tool.

ChangeMan or an equivalent source and change management system.

Banking, Deposits, or Memopost experience is a plus.

Desired API Skills

ReST API/JSON/Swagger.

APIGEE or other gateways.

ADO, Git Hub, Jenkins for source management/deployment

Event driven architecture.

Kafka, PubSub or equivalent.

Awareness of Big Table for future support.

Java/Fuse.

Experience with automated testing tools would be a plus.
