Cost Estimator

The Cost Estimator works with project teams to develop cost estimates for capital projects with a complete understanding of the interrelationship of the project scope, project milestones, and the cost of labor, material, equipment, and productivity used at each level of an estimate and schedule.
Primary Functions / Duties:
Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor
estimates.
Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors on estimates.
Utilize software to calculate estimates and organize the data.
Prepare detailed cost estimates for various stages of the project lifecycle.
Review historical data to evaluate costs for future projects.
Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time and raw material, equipment,
and labor expenses.
Consult with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing information and quotations.
Assess and analyze project risks and incorporate necessary financial margins.
Prepare and present cost reports and proposals to clients or management.
Monitor and track project expenses to ensure adherence to the budget and report any
discrepancies.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
Minimum of 15 years experience managing projects, including planning, estimating,
forecasting, scheduling, cost control, schedule control, and project reports
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and all Microsoft applications is a must, experience with
SAP / Primavera a plus.
Proficient in estimating software, including eBuilder, HCSS (HeavyBid), Bluebeam, or
equivalent
Experienced setting up and monitoring complex project estimates and developing
estimation tools and resources is desired
Government agency experience is highly desirable
Demonstrate organizational, technical, and team-building expertise necessary for
managing and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
Education/Training:
Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Construction
Science Engineering or equivalent experience.
Certifications such as CCEA, PE, AEP, CCT, CEP, CACM, CMIT, PSP, EVP, PMI-SP, EIT
are desirable.
