Your Role
We are looking for a skilled Bioinformatics Software Developer to enhance our team, supporting a federal government client with the development, deployment, and maintenance of MicrobeTrace, an innovative bioinformatics tool for detecting and characterizing clusters.
This is a fully remote opportunity for candidates located in the United States, with potential occasional on-site requirements in Atlanta, GA, as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Develop synthetic epidemiologic and molecular sequence datasets to support the validation of analytical tools and systems.
Contribute to development using JavaScript, TypeScript, and Angular.
Maintain regular communication with the client, providing updates and demonstrations through various channels.
Present findings and demonstrate MicrobeTrace at conferences and workshops.
Train team members and external partners on new tools and platforms.
Support integration of bioinformatics tools and enhance visualizations and functionalities in MicrobeTrace.
Manage development progress using project management tools to improve response capabilities.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
2-3 years of experience in bioinformatics.
Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Angular is highly desirable.
Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and platforms.
Experience in developing and evaluating synthetic datasets.
A proven track record of presenting findings at professional gatherings.
Experience in data integration and visualization.
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Attention to detail and teamwork capabilities.
Preferred experience working with CDC or similar clients.
Ability to pass federal background screening and obtain security clearance.
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Education and Training
A Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field is required.
Physical Requirements
This role requires extended periods of sitting and using a computer, with occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
