Cisco & Arista Network Migration Engineer (Contract)

Role Overview
We are looking for a talented Network Migration Engineer to lead enterprise switch migration activities. In this role, you'll execute established and validated Low Level Design (LLD), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and runbooks with high precision. Your efforts will involve transitioning from legacy Cisco switching platforms to modern Cisco hardware, alongside Arista switch upgrades, in live production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Execute network migrations strictly following approved LLD, MOPs, and runbooks
Conduct switch refresh actions including:
Upgrades from legacy Cisco switches to new Cisco platforms
Migrations of Arista 7280R2 to 7280R3
Support the migration of roughly 400 switches, involving:
48-port SFP switches
10Gb and 25Gb interfaces
Top-of-Rack (ToR) switches
Validation of new uplinks
A small quantity of 30Gb switches
Perform pre-cutover checks, execute live migrations, and conduct post-migration validation
Work during overnight and weekend maintenance windows
Adhere to formal change management and escalation procedures
Implement rollback plans if necessary
Document results and communicate migration status
Required Qualifications
At least 5 years of hands-on IT experience
Cisco certification required:
Active or previous CCNA OR
Current or previous CCNP
Proven experience executing network migrations
Hands-on involvement in transitioning from older Cisco switching hardware to newer models
Practical experience with Arista switching, especially the 7280 series
Strong expertise in:
Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching
10Gb and 25Gb SFP optics
Data center ToR architectures
Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately in live environments
Strong capability to work independently in a remote setting
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Experience in large-scale switch refresh initiatives (hundreds of devices)
Involvement in data center migration or enterprise network modernization
Familiarity with structured change management (CAB, MOPs, rollback strategies)

Availability for overnight and weekend migrations is required
Schedule will be dictated by customer-approved maintenance windows
Role Scope Clarification
This is purely an execution-focused role:
No responsibilities for network design or architecture
No creation or modification of LLDs
Concentration on delivery, precision, and operational excellence
