On behalf of our public safety client, Procom is searching for a 911 Operator for a contract role. This position is an onsite position at our client's Chapel Hill, NC office.

911 Operator - Job Description:

The UNC Police seeks multiple telecommunicators to support the E9 1 1 Communications Center. This role involves handling emergency and non-emergency calls, coordinating with law enforcement and campus units, and operating a wide range of communications systems. Telecommunicators must manage high-volume, high-pressure situations while maintaining accurate documentation and clear communication across phone, radio, and computer systems.

911 Operator - Responsibilities:

• Operate the UNC E9 1 1 Communications Center to support emergency and law enforcement response

• Collect, process, and prioritize information from multiple sources during routine and high-stress events

• Operate CAD, DCIN, multi-line phone systems, radio systems, alarms, and related tools

• Document calls, incidents, and communications accurately and in real time

• Interpret audible alerts, tones, and signals across communications platforms

• Maintain operations during adverse weather, emergencies, and campus closures

• Manage continuous workloads across rotating shifts including overnights and holidays

• Communicate clearly with officers, staff, campus units, and external agencies

911 Operator - Mandatory Skills:

• High school diploma

• Minimum one year of experience in a relevant support or communications environment

• Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced emergency settings

• Basic Telecommunicator Certification from a state criminal justice institution

• DCIN operator certification or ability to obtain within forty-five days of employment

• Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, holidays, and adverse weather events

• Ability to operate multiple computer systems simultaneously

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

911 Operator - Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Prior experience in a public safety or law enforcement communications center

• Experience with CAD systems

• Experience with multi-line emergency phone systems

• Familiarity with university or large campus environments

911 Operator - Assignment Length:

This is a contract position that will extend to 2 years after a few months into the job.
