Job Goal: The Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools will provide administrative and clerical support to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, and the Office of Teaching and Learning. In addition, the position will serve as the central registrar for student enrollment to the district.
Reports To: The Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent of School, and/or the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Evaluator:The Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendent of School, and/or the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Compensation: The salary range for the position is $72,000-$77,000. Compensation and benefits will be in accordance with the contract between the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools and the Avon Board of Education
Work Year: The work year for the position is twelve (12) months in accordance with the contract between the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools and the Avon Board of Education
Performance Responsibilities: The Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools has the duties listed below, as well as other duties and responsibilities as assigned:
Prepare and maintain records of adopted instructional materials and course changes
Support the Open Choice program, including seat declarations and enrollment coordination
Assist the Assistant Superintendent of Schools with confidential personnel records, including hiring documentation, attendance records, leaves of absence, and compliance with state and federal regulations
Provide administrative and clerical support to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, and the Office of Teaching and Learning.
Serve as the back-up to the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools and provide administrative and clerical support to the Superintendent of Schools in the absence of the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools.
Maintain records and prepare documents, organizational materials and reports for committees, projects and programs under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning
Assist with the development and preparation of budget documents for the Office of Teaching and Learning
Assist with the preparation of grant applications and reports, including federal and state entitlement grants and competitive grants
Maintain record of department budget and grant funding and expenditures
Assist in coordinating all professional development activities and maintain records, including entering enrollment, attendance and issuance of Professional Development hours in the Professional Learning management system for all staff
Arrange and provide organizational/logistics support for district professional development activities and curriculum- related meetings
Maintain current information on the website for the Department of Teaching and Learning
Prepare for approval and maintain database of adopted primary instructional materials and course adoptions or changes
Support the administration and reporting of student assessments (e.g., CT School Day SAT, Smarter Balanced Assessments, NGSS, LAS Links)
Serve as the Central Registrar for new student registrations
Assist with maintaining certified staff evaluation documents and record of certified staff evaluations
Assist with and support the TEAM program
Assist with development and implementation of New Staff Orientation
Provide technical support to Administrators and staff on Professional Learning
Support the Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment with special assignments as needed
Support the curriculum specialists with special assignments as needed
Provide back up to the Database Coordinator as needed
Perform all other duties as shall be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and/or the Assistant Superintendent of Schools
