Documentation Coordinator / Technical Documentation Specialist
Location: Fenton, MI
Pay Rate: $27-$32/hour

Position Overview
We are seeking a Documentation Coordinator / Technical Documentation Specialist to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of customer-facing technical documentation for automated systems and equipment programs. This role is responsible for ensuring all documentation meets customer requirements and quality standards prior to submission while supporting continuous improvement initiatives within company management systems.
This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production, and Customer teams to create accurate Operation & Maintenance Manuals and related technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Documentation & Coordination
Create, update, and review Operation & Maintenance Manuals for new and existing projects
Perform final documentation screening prior to customer submission
Track project status on the shop floor to schedule and complete documentation activities
Coordinate with Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production Control teams for technical input
Maintain documentation progress reports and project status updates
Ensure compliance with customer documentation specifications and standards
Fulfill documentation requests from customers and project managers
Process & Quality Support
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to Management Systems
Perform process and documentation audits as required
Maintain working knowledge of ISO standards and APQP practices
Interface directly with automotive customers and suppliers when required
Customer Training Support (Secondary Responsibility)
Travel to customer facilities to deliver training using prepared Operation & Maintenance Manuals
Coordinate training schedules with internal teams and customers
Maintain training records, attendance documentation, and completion forms
Conduct classroom and equipment-based demonstrations during onsite training
Required Qualifications
Associate degree or technical school certification OR equivalent combination of education and related experience
6 months - 2 years of experience in technical documentation, manufacturing, or engineering support environments
Experience supporting automotive OEM or Tier-1 customers preferred (Ford, GM, Stellantis/FCA)
Working knowledge of customer interface and documentation processes
Understanding of ISO standards and APQP methodologies
Technical Skills
Proficiency with:
Microsoft Word & Excel
Windows 11 environment
Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Premiere
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, specifications, and engineering documentation
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams
Additional Requirements
Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required for customer training (travel frequency typically limited)
Occasional overnight travel may be required
Flexibility to support varying shifts or overtime based on project needs
Regular and reliable attendance required
