Job Summary

The Data Center Cabling Technician will support the installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of structured cabling and network infrastructure within data center environments.

The role requires adherence to safety, quality, and industry best practices while performing technical tasks, maintaining organization of work areas, and ensuring compliance with customer site requirements.

The technician will contribute to a team-oriented environment and support project execution with a high level of attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Follow all company and client safety programs, policies, and safe work practices to maintain an accident-free work environment.

Install and decommission critical cabling and network infrastructure in data center environments.

Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and workmanship across all assigned tasks.

Follow production standards, installation codes, design drawings, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations.

Interpret and adhere to project documentation, including design drawings and installation plans.

Support structured cabling system installation and commissioning activities.

Maintain organized work areas, tools, and materials; ensure debris is collected and hazards are addressed promptly.

Comply with customer safety, quality, security, and access requirements.

Required Qualifications

Ability to follow instructions and actively contribute to a team environment.

Demonstrated willingness to learn and support team members.

Ability to distinguish color for cable identification.

Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel for data entry.

Knowledge of safe use of basic hand tools used in telecom and construction industries.

Ability to work effectively in fast-changing environments with a positive attitude.

Strong reliability, punctuality, integrity, and work ethic.

Ability to execute detailed project work with accuracy and attention to detail.

Willingness to work days, nights, or weekends as needed.

Reliable daily transportation.

Ability to understand written work instructions.

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

2-3 years of telecom experience; data center experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in data center environments.

Familiarity with structured cabling and low-voltage installation standards.

Certifications

OSHA 10 preferred (must obtain within 90 days of hire).

First Aid/CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.

Fiber Optic Association certifications preferred.

BICSI Technical Certifications preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Primarily indoor work, with occasional outdoor tasks.

Moderate noise levels in typical work areas.

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, stoop, kneel, reach, and communicate.

Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 25 lbs frequently.

May be required to work at heights or in confined spaces.

Physical demands must be met to perform essential job functions; reasonable accommodations may be made.
