The Welder is responsible for joining metal parts and components using welding processes such as MIG and TIG. The role includes preparing surfaces, completing welds to specification, inspecting weld quality, and maintaining welding equipment while adhering to all safety procedures. The Welder will also operate a robotic welding machine as needed. Collaboration with the Lead or designated trainer is part of the position to learn fixture setup, parts inspection, and department procedures.
Hours: Shift 15: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 AM-3:00 PM
Hourly rate of pay: $20.14-$28.68 per hour base rate (based on experience).
Key Responsibilities
Complete production orders by hand welding parts and components or by operating a robotic welder according to specifications
Assist with simple welding repairs as needed
Learn fixture setup and removal procedures with guidance from the Lead or designated trainers
Conduct initial and in-process inspections at required intervals
Perform visual checks to ensure weld quality meets standards
Record production progress by clocking in and out of production orders in NAV
Collaborate with Quality to address measurement and inspection needs
Operate welding and inspection equipment as required
Requirements
Ability to perform high-quality TIG welds on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
Ability to perform MIG welds on steel
Ability to inspect welded products and identify defects or irregularities
Proficiency with inspection gauges for verifying dimensions
Ability to interpret blueprints and understand inspection requirements
Basic mechanical aptitude for fixture setup and tear-outs
Strong attention to detail during repetitive tasks
6-12 months of relevant welding experience required
Formal technical or vocational training preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 100lbs occasionally
Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of welded components
Use of hands for welding processes, fixture adjustments, and inspection tasks
Required PPE: welding helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, welding gloves, MET guard safety shoes.
